Storm Brewing is a gathering storm: grey clouds churning over the surface with occasional lightning flashes. It is the calmest of the three storm variants, with moderate coverage, gentle churn and the slowest flash rate, so it builds tension rather than chaos.

How it works

A cloudy noise pattern drifts across the surface and a finer layer churns on top of it. Storm Intensity scales that pattern before it is turned into cloud, so higher values give more and thicker cloud, and the gaps are transparent. Lightning is a pair of overlapping pulses in time: when both peak, patches of the cloud flash from Dark Color toward Light Color, then fade back. Lightning Freq sets how often that happens.

Settings

  • Storm Intensity sets how much of the surface is covered in cloud.
  • Lightning Freq controls how often the flashes come; this variant uses the lowest value.
  • Turbulence sets how fast the fine churn moves.
  • Dark Color is the body of the clouds; Light Color is the flash.

Use it for

Moody skies on a large sphere, weather around a planet, approaching-storm intros and dark brand visuals. Step up to Storm Intense or Storm Violent for more drama, or add a lightning effect for real bolts.
