Space objects for Three.js & React Three Fiber

Space objects for 3D scenes: a starfield, shooting stars, a textured Earth with day and night, and a solar system with eight planets.

The space objects are four ready-made pieces of the night sky and the solar system: a starfield, shooting stars, a textured Earth, and a full solar system with the sun and eight planets on their orbits. Each is one object you add, place and scale, with a short list of settings.

What's in the family

  • Stars: a field of up to 20,000 stars in a mix of white, blue and yellow, scattered through a large volume around the scene so it reads as a sky. Count sets how many, Star Size how big each one is, and Color tints the whole field.
  • Shooting Stars: meteors streaking across with glowing trails. Count sets how many are in flight at once; ranges set their speed, how far each one travels before it fades, its trail length and the pause before the next launch. Follow Mouse steers them toward the cursor.
  • Earth: a textured globe with a lit day side, a night side and an atmosphere glowing at the rim. Sun Position sets where the sun is, and so where day turns to night. Two colours set the atmosphere on the day side and along the line between day and night.
  • Solar System: the sun and eight planets, each on its own circular orbit with its own size, axial tilt and spin, the outer planets taking far longer to go round. Orbit Speed Multiplier speeds time up or slows it down, Enable Orbit and Enable Self Rotation switch the two motions, Show Orbit Rings draws each planet's path, and Sun Intensity and Sun Color set the light the sun casts on the planets.

Choosing a space object

Stars are the quickest backdrop for any night, space or sci-fi scene, and they sit happily behind everything else. Shooting Stars add a moment of motion to a still sky, and with Follow Mouse they become a playful cursor reaction. Earth suits tech, travel, logistics and climate stories, especially with the camera slowly circling the line between day and night. The Solar System works for education and astronomy, and as an intro sequence that ends on one planet.

Building a space scene

Start with Stars, then add one hero: Earth for a grounded, real-world story, or the Solar System for scale. The space effects add drama around it: a black hole, a galaxy, planetary rings or a portal, all in the effects family. The Tidal Stream particles show a galaxy tearing its satellites apart, and the Lensing and Grav Wave grids make a floor that bends like spacetime. Keep post-processing bloom on so the sun and the brightest stars glow.

Settings on the space objects can be keyframed, so a sun can brighten or the planets can speed up as a page scrolls into a new section.
