Grav Wave Grid
A spacetime lattice around an inspiralling black-hole binary: the wells pinch the grid and chirping quadrupole waves spiral outward until the merger rings down. Use for space, physics and sci-fi floors.

The Grav Wave Grid shows two black holes spiralling into each other on a sheet of spacetime. Their gravity pinches the grid lines into two wells, and as they orbit they send out spiral waves that ripple the lattice. The orbit tightens and speeds up, the waves rise in pitch, the two merge in a soft flash, and the remnant rings down before a new pair fades in and the cycle starts again.
How it works
The grid is the familiar rubber-sheet picture of gravity: masses sink the sheet and pull the lines toward them. On top, the outgoing waves are computed from the orbit as it was when the wave left it, so the spiral arms trail behind the pair exactly as a real wave pattern would. The crests of the waves glow, and the lines brighten where the stretch is strongest. Far from the centre the lines dissolve into an even tone rather than flickering.
Settings
- Strain is the wave strength; 0 leaves only the static wells.
- Chirp Time is the length of one full cycle, from inspiral through merger to ringdown.
- Wave Speed sets how fast the ripples travel and so how tightly the spiral is wound.
- Mass Ratio makes one black hole lighter than the other, changing the orbit and the waves.
Use it for
Space and physics explainers, sci-fi floors, astronomy brands and dramatic intros. Pair it with the Black Hole effect or the Lensing Grid.
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
More grids
Chladni Grid
Vibrating Chladni plates: sand settles on the nodal lines of a standing wave that drifts between resonances. Use for sound, music, science and meditative floors.
Flow Net Grid
A potential-flow net around a cylinder: streamlines and equipotentials cross at right angles and bend around the obstacle. Use for aerodynamic, fluid and engineering floors.
Girih Grid
Islamic star-and-rosette strapwork built by Hankin polygons-in-contact: rays leave every edge midpoint at the contact angle and close into interlaced stars. Use for ornament, palace, mosaic and ritual floors.
Hyperbolic Grid
An Escher-style {p,q} tiling of the Poincaré disk that glides through itself; tiles shrink endlessly toward the rim. Use for mystical, mathematical and portal floors.
Lensing Grid
A square lattice seen through a point-mass gravitational lens: Einstein ring, inverted inner image and a dark shadow. Use for space, sci-fi and cosmic floors.
Reaction Diffusion Grid
A living Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion field: coral, labyrinths and dividing spots grow across the plane and never settle. Use for organic, biological and alien floors.

Moon dust material: gray regolith under a harsh white sun and near-black sky, with faint sparkle and dead-still ripples. For space scenes.
SandVoid Rift
A dark rift along every line: a writhing black tear with a bright edge, violet shimmer and sparks drifting away.
