Reaction Diffusion Grid
A living Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion field: coral, labyrinths and dividing spots grow across the plane and never settle. Use for organic, biological and alien floors.

The Reaction Diffusion Grid fills the floor with a living pattern: coral branches, winding labyrinths and spots that split in two, growing, merging and healing under the grid lines without ever settling. It is the same process that is thought to paint leopard spots, zebra stripes and the ridges of brain coral.
How it works
Two virtual chemicals spread across the surface. One feeds the other, the other consumes it and multiplies, and because they spread at different speeds an even mixture cannot stay even: it breaks into fronts that grow, divide and repair themselves. The simulation runs continuously and wraps at its edges, so it repeats across the floor without a seam. The edges of each front are drawn as glowing contours, with a second contour deeper inside so the fronts read as ridges, and Displace lifts the pattern into real relief.
Settings
- Feed and Kill pick the kind of pattern: around the default values you get coral and labyrinths, slightly lower values give dividing spots.
- Variation spreads Feed and Kill across the tile, so several patterns grow side by side.
- Tile Cells sets how many grid cells one simulation tile covers before it repeats.
- Line Color, Section Color and Glow Color set the teal fronts and warm accents.
Use it for
Biotech and health brands, organic and natural products, alien and underwater worlds and generative art backgrounds. For more natural growth, see the Phyllotaxis Grid.
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
More grids
Chladni Grid
Vibrating Chladni plates: sand settles on the nodal lines of a standing wave that drifts between resonances. Use for sound, music, science and meditative floors.
Flow Net Grid
A potential-flow net around a cylinder: streamlines and equipotentials cross at right angles and bend around the obstacle. Use for aerodynamic, fluid and engineering floors.
Girih Grid
Islamic star-and-rosette strapwork built by Hankin polygons-in-contact: rays leave every edge midpoint at the contact angle and close into interlaced stars. Use for ornament, palace, mosaic and ritual floors.
Grav Wave Grid
A spacetime lattice around an inspiralling black-hole binary: the wells pinch the grid and chirping quadrupole waves spiral outward until the merger rings down. Use for space, physics and sci-fi floors.
Hyperbolic Grid
An Escher-style {p,q} tiling of the Poincaré disk that glides through itself; tiles shrink endlessly toward the rim. Use for mystical, mathematical and portal floors.
Parastichy Grid
The sunflower's crossed Fibonacci spirals (21 × 13, cut into triangles by the 8-family) as a grid, with light running inward. Use for organic and sacred-geometry scenes.
Works well with
Sahara Dune
Golden desert sand for 3D scenes: wind-combed ripples crawling downwind under a high, dry sun, with grains that glint.
SandSand
Procedural sand for any 3D surface: wind ripples that crawl downwind, glinting grains, ten looks from Sahara gold to Moon dust and a raked zen garden.
MaterialAmber
Warm amber-colored glass with rich golden tones, ideal for vintage and natural aesthetics
GlassBamboo
Light golden bamboo with a satin finish. For eco brands, spa and wellness scenes, kitchenware and modern interiors.
WoodBasic Material
An unlit 3D material: flat color or image that ignores every light in the scene. For UI panels, flat graphics and exact brand colors.
BasicBlack Volcanic
Black volcanic sand material: near-black basalt grains that glitter hard in low, raking light. For dramatic, high-contrast 3D scenes.
