Grid
Basic Grid
A plain floor grid of cells and section lines that fades into the distance. A clean ground reference for product, layout and architecture scenes.
The Basic Grid is the simplest floor in the library: thin lines for every cell, heavier section lines every few cells, and a soft fade into the distance. It does not animate and does not glow. It is there to give a scene a ground and a sense of scale, the way a cutting mat or graph paper does.
How it works
The grid is drawn as an endless plane of lines that thins out with distance, so it never shows a hard edge at the horizon. Two line sets are layered: the small cells and the larger sections. By default a cell is one unit wide, every tenth line is a section line, the cell lines are a deep red and the section lines white, and the grid fades out about thirty units from its centre. It is drawn on both sides, so it still reads when the camera dips below it.
What you can change
The cell size, the section size, the thickness and colour of each line set, and the distance at which the grid fades out. That is the whole set: it is meant to stay quiet.
Use it for
Product shots that need a floor without a backdrop, architectural and layout scenes where scale matters, technical presentations and blueprint-style compositions. When you want the floor itself to move, glow or tell a story, step up to the Advanced Grid or one of the generative grids in the grid collection.
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
More grids
Advanced Grid
A Grid with shader material , animation and noise effects.
Hex Grid
honeycomb grid
Apollonian Grid
An Apollonian gasket of tangent circles built by circle inversion, re-balanced by a slow Möbius flow. Use for jewel-like, mathematical and luxury scenes.
Chladni Grid
Vibrating Chladni plates: sand settles on the nodal lines of a standing wave that drifts between resonances. Use for sound, music, science and meditative floors.
Circuit Grid
Beautifull circuit grid
Conformal Grid
A square lattice pulled through ideal-flow potentials (spinning cylinder, vortex, source-sink); colour is flow speed and dye rides the streamlines. Use for science and tech scenes.
Works well with
Basic
The six standard 3D surface materials, from unlit flat color to physically based paint, clearcoat and cel shading. How each one takes light.
MaterialAluminum
Bright, lightweight aluminum with high reflectivity and slight surface roughness
MetalBasic Material
An unlit 3D material: flat color or image that ignores every light in the scene. For UI panels, flat graphics and exact brand colors.
BasicBirch
Very pale, almost white birch with a matte finish. For Scandinavian interiors, plywood furniture and bright minimal scenes.
WoodBrushed Metal
A satin, matte grey metal with soft, wide highlights, for appliances, panels and modern architectural details.
MetalClear Glass
Crystal clear glass with high transparency and realistic refraction, perfect for windows and containers
