Effect
Planetary Rings
A Saturn-like ring system: Keplerian shear shapes icy clumps, resonant moons open gaps and spiral density waves, and the planet casts a soft shadow. Use for planets, sci-fi, space scenes.

Planetary Rings gives an object a ring system like Saturn's: broad bright bands of icy particles, dark gaps cut by moons, fine ringlets, faint spokes and the shadow of the planet falling across the rings.
How it works
The inner parts of the rings orbit faster than the outer ones, so any clump is drawn out into a trailing streak. The layout follows Saturn: a thin inner ring, the dense bright middle ring, a dark division with faint ringlets, and an outer ring with a narrow gap and a thin dusty edge. Moons placed at resonances clear gaps and start tight spiral waves in the ring, and tiny moonlets ride inside the gaps they keep open. The lighting treats the rings as a slab of particles: large icy grains scatter light back toward the sun and fine dust scatters it forward, which is why dusty parts light up when the sun is behind them.
Settings
- Inner Radius and Outer Radius: where the rings start and end.
- Tilt: the angle of the ring plane.
- Moons: up to three resonant moons that open gaps and waves.
- Forward Scatter: how dusty the rings are.
- Sun Angle and Sun Elevation: where the light comes from.
- Color, Gap Color and Dust Color.
Use it for
Planets, sci-fi worlds, science visuals. Put it around a sphere or Earth, next to a Galaxy.
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
More effects
Galaxy
A spiral galaxy from density-wave theory: nested elliptical orbits twist into arms, lit by young blue stars, dust lanes and a warm bulge. Use for space, cosmic, sci-fi scenes.
Black Hole
A ray-traced Schwarzschild black hole: gravitational lensing, photon ring and a Doppler-beamed accretion disk with relativistic jets. Use for space, gravity and cosmic scenes.
Field Lines
Analytic magnetic dipole field lines around the object, with trapped particles bouncing between mirror points like the Van Allen belts. Use for sci-fi planets, energy cores, magnetism.
Ice Crystals
Six-fold snow crystals grow as frost on the object, from hexagonal plates to feathery dendrites, with facets that glint and drifting diamond dust. Use for winter, frost, cold magic.
Aura
Soft pulsing glow shell around the object. Use for magical, mystical, holy effects.
Aurora
Flowing color ribbons (northern lights). Use for polar, atmospheric, magical-curtain effects.
Works well with
Blue Giant
Hyper-hot blue stellar surface — cobalt convection cells with blinding white-hot filaments
LavaBlue Star
Cool stellar atmosphere — cobalt outer fade with a brilliant cyan-white limb
CoronaLunar Regolith
Moon dust material: gray regolith under a harsh white sun and near-black sky, with faint sparkle and dead-still ripples. For space scenes.
SandMartian Regolith
Martian soil material: dusty rust-brown fines under a butterscotch sky, with long, matte ripples. For Mars, space and sci-fi 3D scenes.
SandVoid Rift
A dark rift along every line: a writhing black tear with a bright edge, violet shimmer and sparks drifting away.
Line EffectsComet Trail
A 3D comet cursor: a glowing head with a fading tail of light that follows the mouse across your scene. For space, sci-fi and night sites.
