The Plane is a flat rectangle with no thickness. It is the floor under a product, a wall behind it, a screen, a backdrop, a sign or a sheet of water, and the simplest surface to put a material on.
Shape settings
- Width and Height set the size of the rectangle.
- Width segments and Height segments (1 to 64) cut it into a grid. One segment is enough for a solid floor, but a finer grid gives the point and line display modes more to work with: Wireframe draws a clean grid, Vertices a field of dots.
Display modes and materials
Solid shows the flat surface. Wireframe with many segments makes an instant grid floor, and Surface or Even scatter particles evenly over the sheet. Any material in the library goes on it: polished oak for a tabletop, frosted glass for a soft panel, a water material for a pool surface, glossy white plastic for a clean studio floor.
For a sky, ground or ocean that fills the whole scene, the environment tools do more than a plane can.
Use it for
- Floors and backdrops under products
- Screens, signs and panels
- Grid floors in tech scenes
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
