Aura Glow

Aura Glow wraps the mouse pointer in a soft halo of light. It has no hard core: the glow is brightest at its edge and clear in the middle, and its colour slides around the rainbow as you look at it, crossed now and then by fine electric tendrils.

How it works

The aura is two nested shells of light. Each shell glows where you see it edge-on and fades where you look straight through it. The colour starts from the hue you pick and shifts with the viewing angle and slowly over time, so it shimmers rather than sitting still. A drifting noise pattern breaks the glow into soft clouds and sharp bright streaks, and the two shells pulse slightly out of step with each other. When the pointer rests, the aura shrinks to three quarters of its size and grows back when it moves.

Settings

• Color: the starting hue of the iridescent glow.
• Falloff: how tightly the glow hugs the rim. Low values give a wide, hazy halo; high values give a thin, sharp ring of light.
• Intensity and Opacity: how bright and how solid the glow is.
• Idle fade (ms): how long the pointer rests before the aura settles.
