Reflector turns a flat surface into a mirror of the scene above it. Put it on a plane under a product, a car model or a line of 3D text, and the objects appear reflected in the floor, from a sharp polished mirror to a soft, blurred sheen like wet stone or satin.

How it works

The scene is rendered a second time from the mirrored point of view and laid onto the surface. That reflection can be blurred, and the blur and its strength can depend on depth: parts of an object close to the surface reflect clearly, and parts further away fade and soften, the way a real glossy floor behaves. It is built for flat surfaces; on curved shapes the mirror image does not follow the curve.

Settings

  • Mix Strength sets how strong the reflection is; the default is high for a clear mirror.
  • Blur sets how much the reflection is blurred, horizontally and vertically.
  • Mix Blur sets how much of that blur is mixed in.
  • Depth Scale, Min Depth Threshold and Max Depth Threshold control the fade with distance from the surface.
  • Resolution sets the sharpness of the reflection; higher costs more.
  • Color, Roughness and Metalness set the floor under the reflection.

Use it for

Product shots and showrooms, car and furniture stages, polished floors under a hero logo, and dark luxury scenes. Put Transmission glass on top for a glass object on a mirror floor.
