Sway rocks an object gently about its base, like something tall in a light wind: a tree, a reed, a lamp post, a sign. The base stays planted on the ground while the top swings back and forth.
How it works
The swing is a pendulum with a little extra shaping that flattens it at the ends, so the object lingers at each side before swinging back, the way real plants and hanging things move. It pivots at the bottom of the object, so it never slides or lifts. It eases in when switched on and settles back upright when switched off, and it is layered over the object's own position and animation, so it combines with other motion.
Settings
- Direction: side to side, or front to back.
- Angle: how far it leans at each end of the swing.
- Speed: how fast it rocks.
- Duration: one pass of building up, swaying and settling; with Loop on it keeps swaying.
Use it for
Plants, trees and grass in nature scenes, signs, flags on poles, tall products and characters idling. Keep it on with Loop for an ambient scene, run it on hover so objects sway when the cursor passes over (triggering again settles them), or switch it on inside an action. For a circular lean instead, use Wobble; for a gust that carries the object away, Leaf fall.
More object effects
Leaf fall
A gust lifts it and carries it away, gliding side to side and rocking like a falling leaf — it comes back fluttering down and settles softly
Object effectFloat
Hover in the air — a soft bob that never quite repeats, drifting and banking a little
Object effectPetal peel
Peel a 3D object into flakes that flutter to the ground like leaves, or keep them lifted like raised scales.
Object effectDrift up
Lifts away like a balloon let go — rising faster and faster, drifting and swaying in a calm wind; it sinks back down and settles with a bob
Object effectFlock
Turn a 3D object into a flock of birds that takes off and flies away, or stays perched in its shape. Reverse flies them home.
Object effectIvy
Grow ivy over a 3D object: vines creep along its real surface and leaves unfurl. Reverse withers it away.
Object effectWorks well with
Dandelion Seeds
Dandelion seeds let go of the head one by one and drift away: a high-drag pappus gives them a slow terminal fall, and curl-noise wind with updrafts carries them. Use for meadow, summer, wish, gentle scenes.
EffectFalling Leaves
Leaves drifting past the object, each one integrating the Andersen-Pesavento-Wang falling-plate equations, so they flutter, glide and tumble like real leaves.
EffectBamboo
Light golden bamboo with a satin finish. For eco brands, spa and wellness scenes, kitchenware and modern interiors.
WoodCirrus Thick
Thicker cirrus clouds with reduced transparency and more visible cloud structure
EffectCloud
Animated procedural cloud materials for any 3D surface: bright, sunset, dawn, stormy and overcast skies with silver linings and light rays.
MaterialDunes
A placeable patch of sand dunes: asymmetric wind-driven ridges with gentle windward and steep slip faces, easing down to its base at the edge. Footprint is the object's scale. Use for desert spots, beaches and Mars scenes.
