Drift up lets an object go like a balloon. Buoyancy lifts it gently and keeps it rising faster and faster, a calm, slow wind pushes it sideways, it leans the way it drifts and sways as if hanging from a point above it, and it turns slowly as it climbs out of view. The way back: it sinks down from above, slowing, the sway dying away, and settles with a small bob.

How it works

The lift starts soft and then accelerates, so the first moment reads as the object being released rather than thrown. The sideways wander comes from a few slow overlapping waves, so the path never looks mechanical. Leaning into the drift and the pendulum sway are what make it feel like something hanging from a string. It shrinks away only near the top of its climb.

Settings

  • Rise: how high it floats before it is gone, measured in its own heights.
  • Drift: how far it wanders sideways in the wind.
  • Sway: the angle of the pendulum swing.
  • Duration: the length of the exit, and of the return.

Use it for

Birthdays and festive scenes, soft product exits, lanterns, bubbles and anything that should feel weightless. It runs on click or hover, inside an action, or as an entrance and exit tied to the object being shown or hidden. Pair it with Float for an object that hovers before it lifts away, or compare the windier Leaf fall.
