Environment effect
Snow
Snowfall with physical flakes: size-dependent terminal fall, helical flutter and tumbling dendrite crystals that glint in the sun, swept by travelling gusts and snow bands. The cursor is a gust, a shelter or a warm hand. Use for winter and weather scenes.

Snow fills a volume of your scene with falling snow. Close to the camera you see six-armed crystals that rock and flip as they fall and glint in the sun; further away the snowfall becomes soft specks that fill the whole volume. Gusts sweep through it and gather the flakes into drifting curtains.
How it works
Bigger flakes fall faster than small ones, and each flake slides side to side on a slow spiral, the way a real flake drifts through the air. A steady wind carries everything downwind, slow swirls are layered on top, and waves of gusts travel with the wind, shoving flakes ahead of them and thickening the snowfall into bands. The sunlit side of each flake takes the snow colour and the side away from the sun takes a cooler shade.
Settings
- Density and Flake Size: how heavily it snows and how big the flakes are.
- Flutter and Tumble: the side-to-side spiral, and the rocking and flipping of the crystals.
- Glint: how much the crystals sparkle in the sun.
- Wind Strength, Wind Direction, Turbulence and Gustiness: the weather.
- Bands: how strongly the gusts gather the snow into curtains.
The cursor can be a gust of air, a shelter the snow slides off with a dry space beneath it, or a warm hand that melts flakes into glowing droplets.
Use it for
Winter campaigns, holiday pages and mountain landscapes. Pair it with Mountains or Ice Crystals.

More environment effects
Rain
Rain streaks falling through the object's volume, pushed sideways by the wind and scattered by turbulence. Use for rainy, moody and weather scenes.
Rainbow
A single physical rainbow on its own: water dispersion and an Airy profile with supernumerary fringes, centred opposite the sun and seen through the object’s volume. The cursor sprays, clears or polarises it. Use for after-rain and hopeful scenes.
Sandstorm
A haboob: billowing dust under a scale-height profile, gust fronts that roll downwind as towering walls, and saltating grains streaking along the ground, lit by forward-scattered sun. The cursor is a windbreak, a dust devil or a gust. Use for desert, ash and Mars scenes.
Thunderstorm
A thunderstorm without the rain (rain is its own object): dark storm curtains drifting on the wind, and lightning arriving as a Poisson process of multi-stroke flashes that light the curtains and the whole scene. The cursor calls a strike or clears the murk. Use for storm, noir and dramatic scenes.
Tornado
A standalone tornado as a Rankine vortex: a condensation funnel on a wandering, rope-like axis with helical streaks that wind by differential rotation and climb on the updraft, and ground dust spiralling in and swirling up a sheath around it. The cursor steers it, feeds it or bends it with a gust. Use for storm and drama scenes.

An aurora cursor: a ribbon of northern lights trails the mouse, flowing green, cyan and magenta. For night, nature, winter and dreamy scenes.
