Hills is a patch of rolling countryside you place in a scene like any other object: soft, rounded downland under grass, easing down to its base at the edges. The object's scale is the footprint, so it can be a small green mound beside a product or a stretch of country behind it.
How it works
The patch uses the same landscape model as the scene's endless terrain, cut to a footprint you control. For hills the ridges are almost entirely rounded off, and the shapes are bent so the slopes curve and branch the way real valleys do rather than looking like lumps of noise. Grass covers the low ground and the tops, and rock only shows where a bank turns steep.
Settings
- Shape and Ground: pick a landform such as Downland, Steppe, Moorland, Meadow valley or Tundra, and a ground such as Green hills, Dry grassland, Forest floor or Moorland.
- Size, Height, Ruggedness and Rock & snow: the quick sliders.
- Edge fade: how far in from the border the land eases down; 0 ends in a cliff.
- Landform and Textures tabs: every number, including Ridge Sharpness, Warp Strength and Erosion, and a real photographed texture for each ground layer.
Use it for
Countryside and park scenes, gentle dioramas, playful product stages, games and kids' worlds. Related: Mountains and Dunes.
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
More land
Canyon
A placeable patch of canyon country: stratified mesas cut by a branching incised channel network, easing down to its base at the edge. Footprint is the object's scale. Use for red-rock deserts, western and Mars scenes.
Dunes
A placeable patch of sand dunes: asymmetric wind-driven ridges with gentle windward and steep slip faces, easing down to its base at the edge. Footprint is the object's scale. Use for desert spots, beaches and Mars scenes.
Mountains
A placeable patch of mountain land: ridged, eroded peaks with slope rock and a snow line, easing down to its base at the edge. Footprint is the object's scale. Use for alpine backdrops, islands of peaks and dioramas.
Works well with
Cirrus Thick
Thicker cirrus clouds with reduced transparency and more visible cloud structure
EffectCloud
Animated procedural cloud materials for any 3D surface: bright, sunset, dawn, stormy and overcast skies with silver linings and light rays.
MaterialPink Coral
Blush-pink coral sand material: calm, fine shell sand with a gentle shimmer. For beach, tropical and soft pastel 3D scenes.
SandSand
Procedural sand for any 3D surface: wind ripples that crawl downwind, glinting grains, ten looks from Sahara gold to Moon dust and a raked zen garden.
MaterialSky Clouds Bright
Bright white animated clouds over a clear sky, with no extra lighting effects. A calm daytime cloud backdrop for any 3D scene.
CloudSway
Rock gently about its base, like something tall in a light wind
