The Spot Beam is a spotlight you can see in the air. It throws a cone of light with a visible, hazy beam, and it can shape both the beam and the pool on the floor with a pattern: a slot, bars, venetian blinds, a window frame or the dappled light through leaves. The pattern on the floor and the shape in the air always match.
How it works
Stage lights shape their beam with a cut-out in front of the lamp, called a gobo. Here the gobo is projected through the light onto the floor, and the beam reads the same pattern, so the haze carries it too. The beam can be a single soft cone, a stack of nested cones that thickens toward the centre, or a fully marched volume in which the slats of the blinds or the leaves show as real shafts of light. The visible source can be hidden, so it drops into any lamp you already have.
Settings
- Gobo: Round, Slot, Bars, Blinds, Window or Leaves, with Gobo softness and Gobo rotation.
- Beam quality: None, Soft, Layered or Volumetric.
- Beam, Beam length and Haze set the beam's brightness, reach and smoky breakup.
- Angle and Penumbra set the cone; in Temperature (K), 3200K is a tungsten stage lamp and 5600K daylight.
- Source: Hidden, Dot or Lens.
Use it for
Stage scenes, window light in interiors, film noir and product reveals. It pairs well with Brownian Dust floating in the beam.
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.

A candle with a flickering flame that casts warm, moving light on its surroundings. Use for cosy, intimate and night scenes.
Directional Light
Parallel rays from one direction (like the sun). Use for sunlight, moonlight, key light.

Works well with
Depth of Field
Depth of field post-processing: blur everything in front of or behind the focus, like a camera lens, to draw the eye to your subject.
Post-processing effectEbony
Near-black ebony with a smooth, reflective finish. For luxury objects, piano-style details and dark premium product scenes.
WoodRim light
Light the edges of the targets, like a backlight catching the silhouette — sweeping on in a direction
Object effectSmokey Glass
Dark smokey glass with reduced transparency, perfect for mystery and dramatic effects
GlassSSAO
SSAO post-processing: soft contact shadows in the creases, corners and gaps of a 3D scene, so objects sit in it instead of floating.
Post-processing effectAdvanced
Five advanced 3D materials: a mirror floor, refraction, see-through transmission glass, and two surfaces that distort or wobble the shape in motion.
