Emerald Gemstone Material

Emerald in the crystal family is the gemstone version of green: a saturated green stone with a dense body, light bending close to real emerald and bright reflections. It sits between the deep precious stones and the lighter ones.

Settings

• Color emerald green: a vivid, slightly cool green.
• Transmission 0.8: more light comes through than in Ruby or Sapphire, so the stone glows green from inside, but less than in the glass Emerald at 0.85, which keeps this version denser and more like a cut gem.
• IOR 1.58: the real value for emerald. It bends light only moderately, so emerald looks calmer and less fragmented than Diamond.
• Env Map Intensity 1.8: strong reflections, slightly below ruby and sapphire.
• Roughness 0.02 and Clearcoat Roughness 0.02: near-perfect sharpness with the faintest softening.
• Clearcoat 1 and Thickness 0.4: a polished outer layer on a medium-depth stone.

For an opaque, soft green stone instead of a clear one, use Jade.

Use it for

Emerald jewellery and luxury product scenes, nature and sustainability brands that want a precious accent, fantasy relics, enchanted forests and magic items, and green gem logos and lettering. It looks best on faceted shapes with bright lights and a light or warm background, where the green comes through clearly.
