Warp is a jump to hyperspace for any object. It charges first: it draws back a touch and compresses along its heading with a fine, building hum. Then it stretches far along that heading while thinning across, keeping its volume, and accelerates so sharply that it is gone in a blink.

How it works

The take-off speed grows exponentially, so almost all of the distance is covered in the last few frames, which is what makes it read as a jump rather than a fly-away. The return mirrors it: it shoots back in stretched, braking just as sharply, snaps out of the stretch on arrival and jiggles along its heading until it is exactly at rest. Triggered again partway, it turns round smoothly.

Settings

  • Direction: right, away from the camera, left or up, judged from the screen when it starts.
  • Stretch: how long it gets at the moment of the jump.
  • Charge: the share of the duration spent charging before it goes.
  • Distance: how far it jumps.
  • Duration: the length of the jump, and of the arrival.

Use it for

Sci-fi and space scenes, tech launches, "go" buttons and fast scene changes where one object leaves and another arrives. Run it on click or hover, inside an action, or as an entrance and exit tied to the object being shown or hidden. A Light streaks trail or Chromatic echo makes the jump read even faster.
