Liquid metal turns an object into polished chrome and then melts it. The chrome comes in along a front, then the object sags from the top down and flows out into a puddle on the ground, the higher parts travelling further, with slow ripples running across the pool. Reversed, it pulls back up into shape and the chrome fades off.
How it works
The chrome reflects its own built-in studio lighting, a sky gradient, a horizon band and two soft boxes, so it reads as metal in any scene, with or without an environment map. With Disappear off, the default when you keep it on an object, the object turns to chrome and stays unmelted, the studio reflection turning slowly and a soft ripple running over it.
Settings
- Metal: the tint of the chrome. Cool silver by default; a warm tone gives a gold or copper melt. - Direction: how the chrome comes in, bottom to top by default. - Pool size: how far the puddle spreads. - Disappear: off for a chrome object that never melts. - Duration: 3.4 seconds.
Use it for
Sci-fi and tech exits, products that melt away on click, a chrome hover state for a logo. For a metal coat that stays, with presets for gold, copper and more, use Metalize. The Liquid Metal Blob cursor carries the same mood to the pointer.
More object effects
Hologram scan
Scan a 3D object into a glowing hologram with a sweeping plane of light, then switch it off, or keep it as a hologram.
Object effectTeleport
Draw a 3D object into a point of light and send it up a beam, or keep it charged under the beam. Reverse beams it back down.
Object effectWarp
Charges, then stretches along its heading and jumps away in a blink — it shoots back in, snaps out of the stretch and jiggles to rest
Object effectBlast off
Crouch, then launch straight up and out of the scene — it comes back with a powered landing: falls in, brakes hard, hovers, touches down
Object effectCurl smoke
Turn a 3D object into soft smoke that swirls away in eddies, or keep it as living smoke in its own shape.
Object effectEmber ash
Burn a 3D object to charcoal and pale ash that the wind blows away in flakes, then un-burn it. A realistic fire exit effect.
Object effectWorks well with
Chrome
Mirror-like chrome with maximum reflectivity, ideal for modern and futuristic designs
MetalFerrofluid
A ferrofluid cursor: a glossy blob of magnetic liquid that grows spikes in the direction you move the mouse. For science, tech and dark luxury.
CursorShockwave
A Sedov–Taylor blast wave: a razor-bright front over a compressed shell that bursts out, slows and cools, raising dust and a brief condensation dome. Use for explosions, impacts, sci-fi pulses.
EffectAdvanced Grid
A glowing square floor grid with animated lines and cells: ripples, scans, pulses and twinkling tiles. For tech, sci-fi and product stages.
GridBlack Hole
A ray-traced Schwarzschild black hole: gravitational lensing, photon ring and a Doppler-beamed accretion disk with relativistic jets. Use for space, gravity and cosmic scenes.
EffectBronze
Aged bronze with darker tones and patina effect, perfect for statues and antique objects
