DNA Helix builds a glowing double helix around an object: two strands, or three, twisting around each other and joined by rungs like the base pairs of DNA, with bright energy pulses running up the strands while the whole helix turns.

How it works

The strands are smooth cyan spirals with four full turns from bottom to top. At regular steps a rung joins the strands, and a soft dot pulses at each junction. A wave of light washes along each strand, and with Running Light Enabled, short bolts of energy run up the strands with a bright head and a fading tail. The helix rotates slowly around its axis. The rungs are brightest in the middle of the helix and dimmer toward the ends, which gives it depth.

Settings

  • Strand Count: 2 for a classic double helix, 3 for a triple strand.
  • Helix Radius and Helix Height: the width and length, relative to the object.
  • Particle Count: how finely the strands are drawn; more is smoother.
  • Running Light Enabled: turns the travelling energy bolts on or off.
  • Base Pair Color: the colour of the rungs.
  • Speed: the rotation and the travel of the light.
  • Intensity: the brightness of the strands and bolts.
