The Gear is a cog wheel: a ring of square teeth around a round centre hole, extruded into a solid with a slight bevel. It reads instantly as machinery, engineering or "settings", and several gears side by side make a mechanism.
Shape settings
- Teeth (4 to 32) sets how many teeth go around the wheel.
- Outer sets the radius at the tips of the teeth.
- Root sets the radius at the base of the teeth: the closer it is to Outer, the shallower the teeth.
- Bore sets the size of the hole in the middle.
- Curve detail sets how smooth the round hole is.
Display modes and materials
Solid shows the cog. Edges draws its sharp outline as a technical line drawing, Wireframe shows the full mesh, and the point modes turn it into particles. Any material in the library goes on it: steel or brass for a real machine part, gold for a premium badge, glossy plastic for a friendly app icon. Add the Rotate effect to keep it turning.
Use it for
- Tech, engineering and industrial visuals
- Settings and process illustrations
- Steampunk and clockwork scenes
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
