Rotate turns an object steadily about its own axes, through its centre, for as long as it is on. One axis is a plain turntable or wheel; two or three together turn it about their diagonal, a slow tumble.

How it works

Switching it on spins the object up smoothly rather than jumping to full speed. Switching it off does not stop it dead: it coasts to the nearest whole turn, so it always comes to rest facing exactly the way it started. Because the turn is layered over the object's own position and animation, it combines with other motion, such as a rotating object that also floats. Setting the playback to Reverse turns it the other way.

Settings

  • Axes: X, Y or Z; pick one for a plain turn, or several to tumble about them together.
  • Speed: turns per second.
  • Duration: one pass of spinning up, turning and coasting to a stop; with Loop on it keeps turning.

Use it for

Product turntables, planets and moons, logos, coins, gems and floating debris in space scenes, and ambient background motion. Keep it on with Loop, start and stop it on hover or click, or switch it on in an action. For a single turn that lands where it started, use Spin; combine with Float for a slowly turning object hanging in the air.
