The Polygon is a flat regular shape with equal sides, extruded into a solid with a soft bevelled edge. One object covers the whole family: triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, octagon and up to a twelve-sided dodecagon.
Shape settings
- Sides (3 to 12) sets how many sides the outline has. Three is a triangle, six a hexagon tile, eight a stop-sign octagon.
- Curve detail has little effect because the outline is straight lines.
Use the object's scale to make it a thin tile, a coin-like badge or a deep prism.
Display modes and materials
Solid shows the bevelled shape. Profile draws only its outline, a clean geometric line, and Edges draws the outline plus bevel lines. Symmetric scatters particles and mirrors them around the centre for a kaleidoscope-like pattern. Any material goes on it: gold for a badge, frosted glass for a hexagon panel, glossy plastic for a game tile.
Use it for
- Badges, medals and icon backplates
- Hexagon tiles and honeycomb patterns
- Geometric logos and abstract compositions
Code and API
Ready-to-paste React Three Fiber code and the 3DRise API are included in paid plans, inside the studio.
