The Sphere is a ball: a planet, an orb, a bubble, a pearl, a sun. It shows off materials better than any other shape, because its curved surface reflects and refracts light from every direction.
Shape settings
- Radius (0.1 to 2) sets the size.
- Segments (3 to 64) sets how many divisions go around it, and Rings (2 to 64) how many from pole to pole. At 32 and 32 it is smooth; at low values it becomes a faceted, low-poly ball, and very low values give spinning-top and diamond-like shapes.
Display modes and materials
Solid shows the ball. Wireframe draws its grid of lines of latitude and longitude, a classic globe look, and Contours stacks horizontal rings. Surface scatters up to 40,000 particles over it for a sphere of light, and Plexus links them into a network globe. Any material goes on it: chrome for a mirror ball, clear glass for a crystal ball, opal for a pearl, a lava material for a molten planet.
Use it for
- Planets, moons and orbs in space scenes
- Material showcases and mirror balls
- Bubbles, pearls and soft hero objects

Basic
The six standard 3D surface materials, from unlit flat color to physically based paint, clearcoat and cel shading. How each one takes light.
MaterialRotate
Turn steadily about its own axes — spins up, and coasts to a stop facing the way it started
Object effect3d Rise Mesh Shader Material
An unlit surface that shows a color or an image exactly as given, unaffected by scene lights. For screens, posters, panels and flat graphics.
Custom ShaderAbs
Light grey ABS plastic with a mid satin finish. For 3D-printed parts, prototypes, enclosures and everyday manufactured objects.
PlasticAcrylic
Clear acrylic with a smooth, reflective surface. For display cases, signs, award blocks and transparent product parts.
PlasticAluminum
Bright, lightweight aluminum with high reflectivity and slight surface roughness
