The Super Formula shape is drawn by the superformula, a single equation that can describe stars, flowers, rounded squares, shells and organic blobs. Its outline is traced around a circle and extruded into a solid with a slight bevel, so every combination of sliders is a new object.

Shape settings

  • Symmetry (1 to 20) sets how many lobes or corners repeat around the shape.
  • Roundness inflates or pinches the whole shape: lower values make it puffier, higher values spikier.
  • Twist 1 and Twist 2 shape each lobe; together they decide whether the edges bulge out like petals, run straight like a polygon or curve in like a star.
  • Stretch X and Stretch Y squash one half of each lobe against the other for lopsided, organic forms.
  • Resolution sets how many points trace the outline.

Display modes and materials

Solid shows the shape. Profile draws its outline as a single clean line, a good way to explore forms, and the point modes fill it with particles. Any material goes on it, from jade to gold.

Use it for

  • Generative and abstract art
  • Flower, shell and botanical motifs
  • Custom logos and badges no one else has
