The Ring is a flat band between two circles, with no thickness: a halo, a washer, a planet's rings, a target or a frame around a round object. For a ring with a round tube, see the Torus.

Shape settings

  • Inner radius sets the size of the hole.
  • Outer radius sets the outer edge. Bring the two close for a thin halo line, spread them apart for a wide disc with a small hole.
  • Theta segments (3 to 64) sets how many steps go around: 32 is round, 6 gives a hexagonal frame, 3 a triangle.
  • Phi segments sets how many bands the ring is divided into between the inner and outer edge; it shows in Wireframe and Vertices.

Display modes and materials

Solid shows the flat band. Wireframe draws its radial grid, and Surface or Even spread particles over it, which is a quick way to make a dusty planetary ring. Any material goes on it: gold for a halo, a bright emissive colour for a portal, translucent glass for a soft disc.

Use it for

  • Halos and glowing rings around a product
  • Planetary rings in space scenes
  • Targets, frames and round UI elements
